First U.S. baby boomer applies for Social Security

Retired school teacher Kathleen Casey-Kirschling on Monday became the first ripple in a "silver tsunami" of retiring baby boomers to apply for pension benefits, threatening to overwhelm U.S. government finances.

Isn't it already overwhelmed at 9 trillion in debt and growing by the second?
